Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Traditional Support Assistant to join our Traditional Healing team. This role is instrumental in assisting our traditional healers with various administrative and programmatic tasks, ensuring smooth and effective delivery of traditional healing practices and community programs. The ideal candidate will have a respectful understanding of Indigenous cultures and traditions, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
Administrative Support:
- Assist traditional healers in scheduling and organizing appointments using PS Suites and other health platforms.
- Take detailed notes during healing sessions and maintain confidential client records.
- Manage correspondence and prepare materials needed for sessions and events.
Program Support:
- Assist in the setup and management of traditional ceremonies, including sweat lodges and other community healing events.
- Provide logistical support during workshops, seminars, and other traditional events.
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure availability of necessary materials and resources for events.
Community Engagement:
- Support the engagement of community members in traditional programs and events.
- Help in communicating the schedule and details of traditional activities to the community.
General Support:
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the traditional healing spaces.
- Ensure all tools and materials used in traditional practices are cared for according to cultural protocols.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the Traditional Healing team.
Qualifications:
- Strong respect for and understanding of Indigenous cultures and traditions.
- Proven administrative experience, preferably in a healthcare or community-based setting.
- Proficiency in using healthcare IT systems such as PS Suites.
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a culturally diverse environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Additional certification or training in administrative duties or Indigenous cultural practices is preferred.
Work Environment:
- This role requires flexibility to work during irregular hours and weekends as needed for special programs and events.
- Physical involvement in setting up and managing community events is required.
