Description
Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the Casual On-Call Maintenance Person is responsible for responding to maintenance requests and handling emergencies related to building and grounds upkeep. This position requires a proactive, hands-on approach to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment.

Job Duties:
• Minor Repairs: Perform minor repairs on buildings, grounds, furniture, and plumbing systems to maintain operational standards.
• Routine Maintenance: Conduct maintenance and upkeep on electrical fixtures, appliances, and equipment as needed.
• Yard Work: Perform seasonal yard maintenance, including mowing, weeding, and leaf clearing.
• Snow and Ice Removal: Clear all walkways and apply salt or de-icer as necessary to maintain safe entryways during winter.
• Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
• Building Security: Secure buildings by locking doors, windows, and arming alarms as needed to maintain site security.
• Shift Coverage: Be available to cover shifts when other maintenance staff are unavailable.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve basic maintenance issues, including electrical, mechanical, and structural problems.

Requirements:
Mandatory Qualifications:
• Prior experience in general maintenance, facility repairs, or related fields.
• Experience working in or with First Nations communities.
• Valid and current clear vulnerable sector check.
• Availability to attend mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
Knowledge and Certifications:
• Proficiency in building maintenance tasks, including basic carpentry, electrical, and plumbing skills.
• Standard First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Clean criminal record.
Skills & Abilities:
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Strong organizational, time management, planning, and scheduling abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Problem-solving skills with the capacity to take initiative.
• Ability to uphold confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.

Physical Demands:
• Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable with climbing ladders and navigating stairs.
• Flexibility to perform bending, stooping, and kneeling as required.
• Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Additional Requirements:
• Tools and Equipment: Ability to operate maintenance tools and light machinery (lawnmowers, snow blowers, etc.) safely.
• Communication: Must have a reliable means of communication for on-call responsibilities.
• Flexibility: Willingness to respond to maintenance requests on short notice as needs arise.
